Many thanks for your interest in applying to Nysmith. You have taken the first step toward what can be an exciting, challenging and rewarding educational experience for your child.

Our Admissions team is available throughout the application process to answer any questions you might have. We hope you will reach out to us if we can help you in any way.

The application requirements for each age group are outlined in detail below.

Please note: All children must be age eligible on or before September 30.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM APPLICATION

Beginners Class Students
3 years of age by September 30

PreK – Students
4 years of age by September 30

NOTE
All children must be potty-trained and
of the appropriate age by September 30

  • Completed application
  • $100 application fee
  • Current school progress report, if applicable
  • Teacher recommendation, if applicable
  • Nysmith School Student Visit

KINDERGARTEN – 8TH GRADE APPLICATION

Kindergarten Students
5 years of age by September 30

  • Completed application
  • $100 application fee
  • Copy of a intellectual test report is required for admission to grades 1-8. Applicants must have a qualifying score of “Superior” or “Very Superior”
    (120 or higher) in at least one test sub-category for admission.
  • Copy of final report card from previous year
  • Copy of all report cards for current year
  • Teacher recommendation
  • Nysmith School Student Visit

The Nysmith School will accept intellectual testing administered by a licensed psychologist or approved by a public school system. Recommended tests include, but are not limited to the:

WPPSI IV (Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale
of Intelligence)

  • WISC V (Wechler Intelligence Scale for Children
    – Fifth Edition)
  • Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (SB5)
  • Woodcock-Johnson Test of Cognitive Abilities (WJ)
  • CogAT
  • NNAT

Children who score in the “Superior” or “Very Superior”
