September 2021: Nysmith 7th Grader Qualifies for International History Olympiad

When it comes to learning history, Nysmith 7th Grader Ariana B. is making history by competing so successfully in the International Academic Competition’s buzzer-based quiz events in recent months.

She finished second in this past weekend’s US History Bee after having been a semifinalist in the National History Bee earlier this year. Those showings earned her a spot in the International History Olympiad to be held next summer in Quebec.

Her “historic” run of success has also included a 2nd place finish in the National Black American History Exam and a 3rd place spot for the National Women’s History Exam. Congratulations Ariana!

Also competing in these prestigious IAC events this past weekend were: 8th graders Babiha B., Nikhil K, Jianting L., and Sophie O.; 7th grader Deepthi K.; 6th graders Colin S., Wyatt S., William Y., and Yifei Z.; and 5th grader Om K.!
