September 2021: 8th Grader’s Project Named to Top 300 Broadcom MASTERS
Nysmith 8th grader Veera A. has had his Science Fair project selected as one of 2021’s Top 300 Broadcom MASTERS, a highly respected program of the Society for Science. It places the Nysmith 8th grader among a distinguished group of 300 students out of close to 2,000 applicants whose projects were entered in the competition.
In conjunction with his project, entitled Weapon Detection System Using Artificial Intelligence, Veera secured a wonderful opportunity to work with Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) AI Team. AWS requested he use Amazon’s Rekognition instead of Google’s Vision API for Image Analysis which he used in his original project. He is also automating his Weapon Detection System using AWS services and doing a comparative analysis between Amazon and Google products.
