October 2021: Nysmith Kindergartner Wins His First-Ever Chess Tournament
Prior to this past weekend, Kindergartner Jacob G. had never competed in a chess tournament. After taking first place in the K-3 section of the Tysons Corner Scholastic Chess Tournament, it can now be said that he has never lost a chess match.
Jacob won four matches en route to capturing first place in the US Chess Federation event. Since it was his first competition, he went into it as an unrated player and ended up defeating several players with higher ratings.
