Where It All Began
The Nysmith School was founded in 1984 by educator Carole Nysmith, who set out to create a learning environment where students could reach their full potential without the limitations of large class sizes.
What began with 55 students in a three-classroom building has grown into a nationally recognized, world-class school, known for its low student-to-teacher ratio, advanced curriculum, and joyful approach to learning. Today, families relocate, commute long distances, and reorganize their lives for the opportunity to be part of the Nysmith experience.
Purpose in Practice
Since our inception in the 1980s, students have learned in classrooms designed to spark curiosity and challenge thinking. Lessons are hands-on and interactive, from science experiments and robotics labs to public speaking, foreign language, and collaborative problem-solving.
With passionate subject specialists and small classes, students are encouraged to explore ideas deeply while building the confidence to share their voice.
