May 2025 – Nysmith Bands Place 6 Times At Competition

Nysmith Music Ensembles Excel at Music in the Parks Festival

This past weekend, our Band, Chorus, and Strings students traveled to Hershey Park to participate in the Music in the Parks competition—and once again, they delivered an outstanding performance.

The Lower School Chorus took home 1st place in their category and was named Best Overall Elementary Choir. The Upper School Chorus and Beginning Strings also earned 1st place finishes in their respective divisions. Concert Band and String Orchestra each secured strong 3rd place finishes, rounding out a weekend of impressive musical accomplishments.

In addition to the ensemble awards, 8th grader Kaiden G. was recognized as Best Student Accompanist for both the elementary and middle school divisions—a rare and remarkable achievement.

Perhaps most meaningful of all, Nysmith was awarded the Esprit de Corps award for the second year in a row. This honor is given to the school whose students demonstrate exceptional character, respect, and spirit throughout the competition. We are proud not only of our students’ musical talents but also of the way they consistently represent the best of who we are as a school community.
