May 2021: Nysmith Poet Sisters Win Prizes, Await Publication of Their Work
Two Nysmith sisters were rewarded for their poetic prowess when the Poetry Society of Virginia (PSV) recently announced the winners of its Annual Student Poetry Contest. Sixth-grader Ariana Blake (right) took home first place in the 5th/6th Grade category for her poem “Fool’s Gold!” while eighth-grader Alexandra Blake won third place for her entry, “The Stranger.” Both poems will be published later this year in the PSV annual journal.
