June 2021: Eighth Grader Wins Prestigious Boston Globe Grand Prize

We are proud to announce that our recent Nysmith graduate, Arielle Kouyoumdjian, has won the prestigious Boston Globe Young Reporters Competition’s Grand Prize. Her submission, a podcast entitled “Is This Green-Space Too White,” focused on the intersections of racial disparities, inequitable access to Rock Creek Park and the disproportionate effects of climate change on communities of color.

The contest included works submitted by students ages 14-18. The Grand Prize includes a full scholarship to Boston University Pre-College Summer Journalism Academy.

Congratulations, Arielle. We are so proud of you!
