December 2023: Big Weekend At VEX

This past weekend, our Nysmith students showcased their exceptional engineering, programming, and teamwork skills at the VEX Robotics Tournament, bringing home multiple awards across different competition categories. Their hard work and dedication to robotics were on full display, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments!

Champions of Robot Skills and Teamwork

Congratulations to Lincoln W., Alexander A., and Nathaniel H. for winning both the Robot Skills Champion and Teamwork Champion awards! These titles recognize their ability to design, program, and drive a robot with precision and strategy. Their mastery of robotics and problem-solving secured them the top spot in both categories, a remarkable achievement!

Excellence in Teamwork and Design

A huge shoutout to Matthew B., Edward C., Alex E., and Toby K., who placed second in the Teamwork Competition and also won the prestigious Design Award! This award recognizes their innovative approach to engineering, including an organized design process and effective documentation of their work. Their ability to collaborate and refine their robot’s performance was truly impressive.

Rising Stars in VEX IQ

For Mahina C., Mayling R., and Audrey P., this tournament marked their first VEX IQ competition, and they finished second in the Teamwork Competition—an incredible accomplishment for their debut! Their enthusiasm and dedication to robotics were evident as they navigated the challenges of the competition with confidence.

Spicy Bots Take Home the Inspire Award

Another fantastic performance came from Eshanth P.,  Minal M.,  Neel J., Aditya B., and William Y., who ranked third in the VEX IQ finals. Their team, Spicy Bots, was also awarded the Inspire Award, recognizing their outstanding team spirit, perseverance, and ability to motivate others. Their commitment to learning and innovation embodies the true spirit of robotics.

Our students’ success at this competition reflects not only their technical skills but also their ability to work together, think critically, and push the boundaries of creativity. Congratulations to all our teams for their hard work and dedication—we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next!
