Welcome Letter From The Nysmith PTO President.

MESSAGE FROM YOUR PTO PRESIDENT, JUNE 2010
Hello! I want to take a moment to reflect on the school year that is now coming to an end. I am grateful for the opportunity to be serving as your PTO President for the 2009–2010 School Year. I have immensely enjoyed the work and developed many invaluable relationships with parents and staff as a result of my involvement in the PTO. I am looking forward to serving as your PTO President for the upcoming school year as well.

I’d like to acknowledge our retiring board members: Denise Bunting, Secretary, and Joe Bunting, Treasurer. Denise and Joe have been faithful PTO volunteers for the past 15 years, serving as board members, committee chairs and co-chairs, and of course as volunteers. The entire Nysmith community has benefited greatly from their involvement, and we cannot thank the Bunting family enough for the time, dedication, and commitment that they have invested in Nysmith and our children.

I also want to take a moment to acknowledge my new colleagues on the PTO Executive Board: Kerry Villella will serve once again as our Vice President, Valerie Van Note-Kreider will serve as our Secretary, and Christine Krause will be our Treasurer. I thank the board members for their dedication and willingness to accept the responsibilities of their positions.

A huge “THANK YOU” goes out to our committee chairs and co-chairs that plan our events. These volunteers work faithfully behind the scenes for hours, days, and sometimes months to make these events successful. So the next time your child comes home smiling about having ice cream at the Summer Reading Ice Cream Social, or talking about all of the cool books at the Book Fair, or explaining all they learned at the International Festival, please take a moment to thank the volunteers that made the event happen.

These events cannot happen without YOU, the parents. THANK YOU to each and every parent who rearranged his or her schedule, took time away from work, changed appointments, etc. in order to volunteer at a PTO-sponsored event. We acknowledge and appreciate the effort that it takes for you to make it to school to assist with an event. THANK YOU!

Look for information about the PTO and our events in your summer mailing from Nysmith. In addition, you can always view PTO information on the Nysmith Community Portal (www.nysmith.com, then click “Enter Nysmith Community” upper right corner). As you read the information, please feel free to contact me with any thoughts, ideas, or questions you may have.

Have a great summer, and I will see you at the Open House on August 31!
Michele A. Triantos
