On March 25, 2017, the 4th-grade Nysmith School Odyssey of the Mind team, comprised of Henry Pan, Anaahita Kaashyap, Nyla Kathuria, Veer Dabbi, Austin Greene, Anderson Jones, and Rishabh Kumaran represented The Nysmith School with distinction. Their creative solution and performance resulted in the First Place title in the Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition.

The team, coached by Vernice Gibson-Jones and former Nysmith student Maxwell Jones, competed in the Division II Technical Problem entitled, “Odd-A-Bot.” The team impressed the judges with their hand-crafted Odd-A-Bot ‘robot’ that (1) witnessed and duplicated four human activities, then (2) applied the movements in a new way, producing humorous results. The long-term solution to this technical problem was set in the Robocup, a world cup competition for robots.

The team will advance to the Odyssey of the Mind State Competition on April 1st, 2017!
