The Science fair has been part of Nysmith School since the beginning. I have been at Nysmith for eight years now, and I have already started my eighth project. From first grade up, students are required to have a science fair project, including a report which is made up of a procedure, observations, materials, data tables, graphs, etc. Projects range from "What paper airplanes fly the best" to "What environment is best for growing bacteria." At the end, everybody recievs a certificate of participation, and some people get awards for special categories. Usually this is only for older grades. The awards are determined by judges who are often parents of students at Nysmith. Science fairs are a lot of hard work, but it really pays off.
