King's Dominion Physics Day

ALL TOPICS

Last year, the 6th through 8th grades went to Kings Dominion. There is actually a physics day that is run by the park, but we did it lately. The event was run by Mr. Pence. All of the classes had been studying physics for a few months before the day we went to the park. Everybody was excited the day we went, not only because we were putting all of the work we had done to use, but also because we went to an amusement park instead of school.
We got there at about 9:30 in the morning. My group had the pleasure of going on the Anaconda first. What a way to start the day! Using our G's measurer and our turning force measurer, we rode on most of the rides including the Avalance, the Shock Wave, and the Grizzly. At each ride there was a teacher who had a paper that concerned the ride. This is where we put our knowledge of physics to the test. After a long day of great rides, friends and fun, we finally headed home. This was a great trip and if we go again this year, I will definitely go.
