CURRICULUM
Comprehensive social studies
Courses are enhanced by field trips

All students begin taking social studies in kindergarten and progress through American History, ancient history, geography, and mapping skills.

Our primary students participate in a “hands-on” approach through arts and crafts projects, dramatizations, cooking, exploring music and games from various cultures and times in history.

Students share in many cooperative activities and games emphasizing respect, responsibility and good citizenship.

Current events are also included in the curriculum, and our students participate in a national competition at the end of the school year.

Students enrich their study of different periods of history and different cultures by incorporating art into social studies. Teachers have created art projects that allow students to explore different artistic techniques and medium through projects that are related to their social studies curriculum.

Starting in second grade, students have overnight trips that also enrich their social studies program. They travel to Williamsburg, Gettysburg, Baltimore, the Chesapeake Bay, and tour a coal mine.
