CURRICULUM
Progressing through mathematics
Our programs promote and reinforce basic building blocks

Our programs include a binary system called Challenge Math, positive and negative numbers, progress through algebra and geometry, and an introduction to precalculus.

Students may also sharpen their math skills by participating in Math Olympiad, Math Counts, and national math competitions, which are offered after school.

Once students have demonstrated mastery of a skill, we add graphing calculators and on special projects, calculators.

When students enter the middle school, they are grouped by performance level for math and may be working anywhere from one year ahead through high school course work.

All primary grades have multiple levels within the classroom.
Students work 1-4 levels above grade level.

In our early grades, our math curriculum is a developmentally appropriate program designed to apply math to real life situations through creative hands on projects, games and manipulatives. Emphasis is placed on mathematical concepts and less on rote learning. Great emphasis is placed on logic problems that require deductive thinking skills and inference.

Fifth and sixth graders share a “math hour” during the school day that allows students to attend their particular math level. Students meet with others in these two grades and their teachers to study Course I (intermediate math) through Geometry. Seventh and eighth graders join together during another hour to study Course III through Algebra II/Trig and pre-calculus.
