Feb. 2017: Nysmith Student Aces AMC 10, Invited to AIME Test

The AMC 10 is a 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examination in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. The AMC 10 is for students in 10th grade and below, and covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade.

The results of the February 2017 AMC 10 are in and several Nysmith students had exemplary performances.

Eighth-grader Anuraag Kaashyap was our top scorer with a result of 114, which puts him in the top 2.5% of all scorers and earned him an invitation to sit for the AIME Test. The AIME Test is the second of two tests used to qualify students for the USA Mathematical Olympiad.

Eighth-grader Yuvraj Sethi also had a strong test finishing second in the school with a score of 109.5.

Zani Xu, a fifth-grader (!) was third in the school, coming in just behind Yuvraj at 108.

In addition, Anand Advani (grade 7) and Whitman Ochiai (grade 8) received Certificates of Achievement for scoring above 90.
