Two eighth-grade Nysmith students, Alex Joel and Caroline Huber, placed first in the novice division at the DC Urban Debate League High School Tournament at Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, DC, on Saturday, April 15th. Debating for the first time in a high school tournament, Alex and Caroline won the championship after competing in five rounds of debate.
